Important Things to Know
CAMP ALAMISCO
Parents Information Sheet

Please read this information packet very carefully.  It contains important information that
will help your camper enjoy their stay to the fullest!  If you have any questions, go to our website at www.alamisco.org or call the camp office at 256-825-9482.  You may also email us at alamisco@gscsda.org

Health Information Form
This form is to be completed no more than 7 days prior to registered camp date.  Do not mail this form into the office!  Your camper must bring it with him/her to be turned in at registration.  Your signature on this form is essential.  This form MUST be turned in before we can accept your camper.

Registration Information
At camp, registration is on Sunday from 1:00–4:30 p.m. Because our staff is totally involved in camp preparations, we cannot accept early registrations or have
parents drop off campers early.  The campers’ first meal is Sunday supper and last meal is the following Sunday breakfast.

How are Cabins Assigned?
Campers are assigned to cabins by the boys and girls division directors. Cabin-mates may be requested but are not at all  necessary because part of a great camp experience is making new friends.  Cabin-mate requests cannot be guaranteed due to cabin space limitations or session changes initiated by camper families.  Be assured though, we do try our best to meet each request.

Camper Pick-Up Information
Check out time is 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Sunday (Daylight Savings Time).  Thank you for being prompt!  Campers can be picked up at the Alamisco Lodge.  Because your child’s safety is a priority, it is our policy for parents to fill out a transportation form at Sunday registration and sign your child out the following Sunday.  Photo ID will be required for pickup.  If there are changes in your camper’s travel arrangements please call the camp office at 256-825-9482 so we can update the information and send your child home
according to your directions.  If picking up and dropping off children on the same Sunday, pick up may be delayed until you arrive to register your new camper.

You can view camp activities and camper pictures on our website.  Pictures of campers will be posted daily.  Check out our website for daily photos of camper activity!   www.alamisco.org.   We will also be posting our weekly video on Sunday after camp.

Alamisco Store
At our camp store, campers can buy Camp Alamisco souvenirs including postcards, T-shirts, sweatshirts, waterbottles, sunglasses, snacks, forgotten items and much more.  We suggest $25-$75 spending money.  You may deposit store money online or send money to our main office to put on your child’s account.  We encourage campers to keep their money in the camp store bank where it is safe and they may have access to it during all camp store hours.  Whatever money is not spent will be returned to them at the end of the week, along with an account of their spending.

What if a Camper gets Homesick?
Through our many years of experience we’ve learned three things: 1) that by watching for early signs of discomfort, homesickness is usually avoidable; 2) once parents are out of sight, counselors and other campers come into focus and the fun starts; and 3) parents
are usually more uneasy about leaving their children than the children are about leaving their parents.  Many parents have found that they can prevent homesickness by encouraging their children to spend a night or two away from home before camp starts.

Visitation Days
We appreciate your interest in Camp Alamisco.  We invite you to visit on opening and closing days of camp.  Should you desire to take a camper from camp early, arrangements should be made with the office.

What kind of Medical Help is Available?
Camp Alamisco follows the guidelines of the American Camping Association.  We have a registered nurse on site 24 hours a day.

Is there Medical Expense Coverage?
Camp Alamisco has accident insurance.  The camp will provide the primary coverage to a certain level and family insurance will be secondary.   The specific coverage and limitations is available from the Gulf States Conference Risk Management Department.

N.S.F. Checks/Credit Cards
For our protection, there will be a $38.00 service charge added to the Non-Sufficient Funds check to cover the costs of additional handling.  Also, if your credit card is not valid, you will be notified and asked to make payment by another method.

Camp Rules
The Administration reserves the right to reject an applicant and send home any boy/girl whose influence is considered to be injurious to the best interest of the camp/campers.  DO NOT bring Game Boys, Walkman/Discman, mp3 players, cellular phones, TVs, knives, guns, ammunition, fireworks, matches, tobacco, alcohol or drugs to camp.

What Things Should be Brought to Camp?
To keep the possibility of your child losing clothes to a minimum, we are recommending that each camper’s clothing be properly identified.  We are enclosing a pamphlet for your use.

Lost and Found
Any Lost & Found needing to be mailed to the owner will be sent C.O.D.   Lost & Found items are returned to our Main Office at the end of the summer.   All unclaimed items are donated to a charity at the end of August.
